Dextranil
Dextrose Monhydrate-Food Grade It is a white crystalline odourless powder, sweet in taste.
Advantages:
- It is a sweetner with sweetness of about 75% of the sucrose.
- It imparts flavour to the food preparations when added alone or in combination with other sweetener.
- It iproduces desirable brown colour in cakes, biscuits , caramel etc.
- It is the simplest carbon source monosaccharide and used extensively in fermentation process for rapid growth with excellent yield, no nonfermentable sugars, low level of trace minerals organics, few leftovers to purify and consistency.
- It helps in extending shelf life of many food products.
Description: Dextrose is a natural sugar occuring widely in nature. Commercially, dextrose is produced by hydrolysing starch followed by purification, concentration and crystallisation. It is a white crystalline powder with molecular formula C6H12O6 , H20 and molecular weight 198 and is readily soluble in water. Its CAS registry No. is 50-99-7. The heat of solution of dextrose monohydrate at 25 C is -105.5 J/g and due to such a high negative heat of solution, dextrose gives cooling effect in mouth. It possesses GRAS status.

Application:
- Dextrose is used as energy food by convalescing patient , sportsperson , children etc. It is very commonly referred to as brain food and known to give instant energy and vigour.
- Dextrose is used in fermentation industry as a single carbon source- nutrient.
- Dextrose is used in dye preparations as a carrier and eco-friendly reducing agent.
Storage: Dextrose in bags should be stored in clean dry area. Availability: Dextrose monohydrate is available in 25 Kgs HDPE bags with inside polythene liner.
